The European Network of Academic Sports, ENAS, has nominated CampusSports’ SportAppro event as the sports project of the year to the finals. CampusSports competes for the SportAppro award with the University of Leicester and the University of Maastricht. The winner will be announced in Trondheim, Norway, during the network’s annual meeting which takes place from the 14th to 17th of November.

‒SportAppro is a free sporting event, in which participants collect stamps for their sports performances. Based on their performance, the participants receive an overall badge and enters a lottery with a chance to win a fitness tracker. SportAppro is held twice a year and over 2000 students have participated, the CampuSport sports coordinator Joonas Niemi mentions.

The Finnish Student Sports Federation, OLL, selected CampusSport as the winner of the OLL Trophy during their general assembly on November 9th.  The OLL Trophy is donated by the FSHS and it is an annually bestowed accolade. The Cup is awarded annually to a member organisation that has achieved success in sports-related activities.

During its Celebration Meeting of the Student Union Council on November 9, the Student Union of the University of Turku, TYY, in turn awarded CampusSport with the TYY Table Standards for collaboration and the positive contributions they have offered in benefit of the students.

‒ We are very honored by the accolades and the recognition that CampusSport has received. We have worked hard for our joint sport services so that the students in Turku and the staff of higher education institutes have equal access to opportunities in practicing sports. The accolades tell us that we have done a great job and that higher education sports services are valued internationally, nationally and locally, Niemi states.
