Abs, Butt and Thighs

The Abs, Butt and Thighs shift consists of an easy warm-up, muscle tone exercises and stretching. The effective muscle toning part focuses on thighs, abs and buttocks. Movements are made from different starting positions. In the exercises, we utilize different equipment and our own body weight.

Aikido

Turku Aikikai ry / Educarium gymnastics hall / 12 participants

Aikido is a Japanese soft self-defense sport. Aikido uses the strength and energy of the opponent against themselves. Aikido involves body techniques and some techniques with wooden weapons. Body techniques include releases from grappling holds, joint locks and throws. Aikido is suitable for people of all ages and abilities, and in practice everyone trains with each other, often changing pairs. For the class, wear normal sports gear, e.g. a t-shirt and sweatpants. The workout takes place on a tatami mat barefoot. Both hands and feet must be washed and dried before starting the exercise.

Aikido

Aikido Dojo Turku / Liikuntakeskus Alfa, Raunistulantie 15 C (meeting behind the gate on the second floor) / 10 participants

Aikido is a Japanese martial art. Aikido Dojo Turku is the only Aikido Dojo in Finland to practice in accordance with the teaching principles of Takemusu Aiki Tomita Academy. For the class, wear normal sportswear, e.g. t-shirt and sweatpants. Grapplings and throws are done by grabbing the opponents’ clothes at shoulder height, so wearing a t-shirt is recommended. Aikido is practiced barefoot and feet should be washed before the session, so bring a towel to dry your feet. You can bring indoor sandals for walking from the changing room to the tatami. You should also bring a sweat towel and a water bottle.

Acrobatics

During the class, you will practice the basics of acrobatics, such as somersaults, cartwheels and handstands. Acrobatics improves your body control and body awareness. It also enhances your muscle strength and mobility. No previous experience is needed.

Bailatino

Bailatino® is a dance form of exercise that involves a longer choreography.  Class includes different dance styles, such as samba, cha-cha, salsa, jive and tango. There is no right or wrong way to dance, everyone can move in their own style. Class doesn’t feel like a traditional workout thanks to its great music and atmosphere. No previous dance experience needed.

Ballet

This class introduces the basic exercises of ballet. Ballet develops posture, strength, flexibility, suppleness, balance, sense of rhythm and coordination. Practicing ballet is useful for everyone, and no earlier experience on dance is necessarily required. Ballet creates a strong basis for all other forms of dance and is also beneficial for other sports.

Barre Fusion

Barre Fusion combines ballet barre exercises with exercises from body weight training, pilates and yoga. The result is an effective workout for the entire body that particularly strengthens the deep muscles of the body and improves body alignments. The class starts with a dynamic warm-up and ends with stretching. No earlier experience in ballet is required.

Basketball

Bike Basic

An indoor cycling class to improve your aerobic fitness. The cycling positions, speed and workload vary during the class. The class is suitable for everyone. You need a sweat towel, elastic sportswear, cycling or indoor sports shoes and a water bottle.

Body

The goal of the class is to improve the muscle tone of the entire body. The class includes a short warm-up, versatile muscle tone exercises and final stretching. Some sports equipment may be used, e.g. rubber bands or dumbbells.

Body maintenance

Iina Ryhtä / Educarium sports hall / 60 participants

Excessive sitting, one-sided strain, asymmetrical positions and heavy exercising may lead to imbalance conditions in the body. The body maintenance shift focuses on strengthening the muscles as well as improving mobility, coordination and balance. We aim at reaching a balanced body through strengthening the typically weakened stabilizing muscles and stretching tense muscles. We use different equipment, such as a stick, elastic band, pilates foam roller and massage ball. The aim is to restore the body by doing calm muscle tone exercises and stretches. 

Bodyweight training

Bodyweight training develops endurance, strength, mobility and control of movements. It is a versatile exercise for the whole body. In Bodyweight Training you mainly use your own body as resistance, but it also includes some tailored exercises done with weights.

Bowling

You can go bowling in Aninkaisten keilahalli. All you need is comfortable clothes. You can borrow the bowling shoes from the bowling alley.

Carnival samba

Samba Carioca / Iskeri / 30 participants

Brazilian carnival samba is a versatile dance form that combines not only samba but also a lot of moves from other latin dances, hip hop and twerk. Samba develops both stamina and muscular fitness – especially the muscles of the legs and core. The aim of the class is to get the heart rate up, but to also have fun. Wear comfortable sportswear, and bring a water bottle and, if you prefer, indoor shoes.

Combat

The class contains different series of punches and kicks and other moves which increase your heart rate. Class is inspired by martial arts and done to inspiring music. No earlier experience in martial arts is required. The class develops oxygen uptake and coordination ability.

Commercial Dance

Commercial Dance combines different dance styles and techniques. The class consists of a warm up, a short technique training and learning choreographies. Pop culture and music videos are used as an inspiration in this class. The goal is to learn bold and strong expression. Participants should have some previous experience in dancing, but participants with different levels of skills are welcomed.

Cheerleading

Cheerleading is a fast-paced and strength-building sport. The best thing about cheerleading is that anyone can take up the sport, regardless of age or fitness level. The class includes a variety of lifts with an experienced cheerleading coach. All you need is exercise clothes, a water bottle and indoor shoes. 

Climbing

Wall climbing is a sport in which you climb along holds attached to a wall. Wall climbing develops courage, flexibility and strength. Wall climbing always requires a climber and a belayer. The climber is the one who climbs the route. The belayer is the one who ensures the climber’s safety by using a safety rope. Participants in this class will belay each other under the guidance of an instructor. Wearing a harness is required for the belay rope, so wear fairly body-hugging clothing for the trial. Harnesses and climbing shoes will be borrowed from the venue, and you must wear thin socks for the climbing socks.

DanceFit

DanceFit is a class which borrows styles from street dance to afro, Latin dances and traditional aerobic. The choreography is built to each song so that the heart rate stays high and you break a sweat. In the end you challenge your body with balance, core and mobility exercises. Participation does not require a background in dancing.

Defendo

Jyrki Saario Defendo is a reliable self-defense system with methods and techniques based on real-life experiences. Defendo offers effective and easy-to-learn solutions for self-defence in situations of emergency, whether you are standing or on the ground. You will need a water bottle, exercise clothes and indoor shoes. No martial arts background or good physical condition is required.

Dodgeball

FasciaMethod

FasciaMethod is a comprehensive bodycare method, developed by Finnish physiotherapists, in which the body’s mobility is improved through a variety of mobility exercises, dynamic precision stretches, movement control exercises and massaging with a fascia ball. FasciaMethod is suitable for all who want to effectively improve their physical performance and promote their own well-being. The exercises are done to the rhythm of one’s breathing and with gentle music playing in the background.

Fitness boxing

Fitness boxing is an efficient and safe form of exercise. The techniques and exercises from boxing are used. In the training, we use e.g. focus mitts and boxing bags. The class includes warm-up, technique exercises with a pair, an efficient workout and final stretching. We use CampusSport’s boxing gloves and focus mitts in the class, but you can also bring your own gloves with you. Bring with you a sweat towel and a bottle of water. No previous boxing experience is necessary and everyone is welcome to join the class, regardless of skill level.

FitYoga

An easy yoga class that improves mobility. Also suitable for recovery training. FitYoga increases strength and improves the flexibility of the body, so it is an excellent counterbalance to other training. 

Flow Harmony

Flow Harmony is a yoga-inspired class that helps in concentration and relaxation. The class consists of exercises with different starting positions that improve balance and mobility. 

Futsal

Futsal shift with no instructor. The participants have to know the rules. The participants are in charge of starting the game and making sure that everyone gets to play. Mixed gender.

Handstand workshop

Lauri Luukkonen /Educarium gymnastics hall / 20 participants

In this class the participants will, with the help of safe exercises, adjust to moving weight into their hands. Movement will gradually develop into a handstand. No prior experience in handstanding is required.

Hapkido

Turun Hapkidoseura / Educarium gymnastics hall / 40 participants

Sin Moo Hapkido is a Korean martial and self-defence art that combines traditional fighting styles. Hapkido includes a variety of striking, kicking, fighting and mat wrestling techniques, as well as meditation. For the class, wear normal sportswear, e.g. t-shirt and sweatpants or shorts. For safety reasons, jewelry and watches should be removed before the training. You can be barefoot or wear socks on the training mat.

Hatha Yoga in English

The aim of hatha yoga is to balance the functions of the body and mind. During the yoga glass we try to get rid of useless tension and increase awareness of our own bodies by doing asana sequences with the help of our breath. The classes include warm-up and preparatory movements, a sequence of asanas and a final relaxation. Instructions are in English.

Hydrohex

Virtual instructor / Caribia / 30 participants

Hydrohex is a new virtual group exercise experience where the participants see the instructor on a screen. In the water you can adjust the resistance and the power of the movements so that they suit you. Beginners as well as people with a lot of experience in water sports can participate in the shift. Hydrohex develops endurance, speed and strength.

Registration to CampusSport’s staff member in the spa lobby. Do not go to Caribia’s service counter. You can access the dressing rooms 30 min before the shift starts. Make sure that you have enough time to change and take a shower before going to the pool. The dressing rooms can be used for 30 minutes after the shift. CampusSport customers can attend only the instructed shift, which means that using the spa costs separately.

Jazz Dance

The goal of the class is to let the music and the rhythm lead and focus on the feeling. We do long choreographies. In addition, there is a warm up as well as some technique and muscle toning exercises. Participants should have some previous experience in dancing, but participants with different levels of skills are welcomed.

Just Kick

A fast-paced workout which utilizes the basic kicks from combat sports and develops stamina, muscular strength and body maintenance. The class combines the best sides of combat and HIIT. Participating in the class does not require any earlier experience on kicks.

Kangoo Jumps

 Kangoo Jump is an energetic form of group exercising that activates the whole body and builds muscle strength as well as stamina. The participants get to try out the Kangoo Jumps shoes that are used as equipment in the class. The shoes protect the joints from strain, are safe to use and are fit for everyone. Training with Kangoo Jumps shoes improves oxygen uptake, strengthens coordination and gets the blood flowing. The class format is for beginners, therefore the basic moves are easy to follow. The music used in this class format is motivating and it gives the positive energy anyone needs for exercising. For this sports class, you need to wear long socks (halfway up the calf) and remember to bring a bottle of water.

Latin Show: Cha cha cha

In this class, you get to know the basic steps and patterns of cha cha cha. No previous experience in latin dances is required. Wear exercise clothes and indoor shoes that are suitable for dancing.

In this lecture, you will get expert information on how to prevent and effectively treat sports injuries. You will learn practical tips and exercises to help you stay healthy and avoid injuries. The lecture is suitable for anyone interested in sport and exercise, from amateurs to professionals.

Outdoor HIIT

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is a workout in which periods of heavy workload alternate with periods of recovery. HIIT is an efficient exercise which develops strength and tones muscles. The class lasts 30 minutes, you will get maximum benefit in a short amount of time. Bring a sweat towel and a water bottle. The class is held outdoors.

Pilates

Pilates strengthens especially the core muscles and improves posture, mobility, body maintenance and balance. A low-paced class, especially suitable for those with back problems.

Petanque

Petanque is a game of skill and tactics. It is perfect for students, both as a fun freetime activity and also as a serious competitive sport – you can go all the way up to World Championship tournaments.

Pole dancing

The class includes basic pole dancing movements such as different spins, standing and sitting on the pole and climbing on the pole. No previous experience is required, and the class is suitable for anyone interested in the sport, regardless of fitness level. You will need short shorts, a water bottle and a small towel for cleaning the bar. No shoes or socks are needed for the class, pole dancing is done barefoot.

Posture power

A class focusing on the proper spinal bone alignment with exercises strengthening the muscles of the torso and the neck and shoulder area. In addition, the class concentrates on improving mobility and stimulating the blood circulation in the muscles of the neck and shoulder area.

Pump

Rugby

Rugby is a fast-paced contact sport in which teams try to get the ball into the opponent’s goal area. The aim of the game is to carry, pass or kick the ball to advance into the opponent’s goal area and score a goal, which is called a try. The class goes through the basics of the sport, including tackling, passing, scrums and lineouts. You will need to bring normal training clothes, trainers or cleats and a water bottle. No previous sporting background is required.

Slow Yoga

Slow Yoga is a slow-paced yoga class where the goal is to find a state of calmness. The focus of the practice is on consciously slowing down your breathing and moving. The practice consists of moving kriyas and static asanas. A single asana is held for a relatively long time. This makes the exercise challenging, but at the same time calming. The asanas are performed both standing and on the floor. At the end there is a final stretch.

Swing dance

In this sports class you will get to know two different dance styles: Lindy Hop and West Coast Swing. Lindy Hop is an energetic and rhythmic couple’s dance from the 1920s, danced to swing music. Lindy Hop is one of the first swing dances. Lindy hop is danced mainly in an open dance style, improvising different patterns. Lindy is perfect for anyone who is looking for a happy and lively partner dance. West Coast Swing is a versatile partner dance that can be danced to almost any kind of music: modern hits, blues or even delicate ballads. The best aspects of West Coast Swing is the improvised interpretation of the music with the partner and the freedom to make the dance your own. West Coast Swing is a great choice for anyone looking for a versatile couple’s dance to modern music. You can come in normal clothes that are comfortable to move in. No dancing shoes are required, socks are fine too.

Step

In Step class we step on a board to inspiring music. After warming up, we build a fast-paced and choreographic step sequence. The class also includes muscle tone exercises and stretching.

Taekwondo

A fast-paced workout inspired by martial arts, composed of kicks, punches and blocks. During the tryout focus will be on kicks. No rank is needed to attend the class. Suitable also for beginners.

Thaiboxing

Thai boxing (internationally known as Muay thai) is a traditional Thai martial art that has been modified from its origins to a modern combat sport. The main techniques used in Thai boxing are punches, kicks, elbow strikes, knee strikes and standing wrestling. The most common forms of training are technique training in pairs, bag training and kick pad training. Training always starts with a warm-up and stretching. You will need comfortable indoor exercise equipment and a water bottle for the class. No shoes are required.

Ultimate Frisbee

Ultimate frisbee is a non-contact team sport played with frisbee. The trial goes through the rules of the game and the technique of throwing the frisbee. You will need to bring weatherproof sportswear, sneakers or cleats and a water bottle.

Voguing

Vogue is a dance style that originated in the 1980s in ballroom culture. Vogue is all about posing and quick, sharp movements. The style includes hand movements framing the face. The class will introduce the dance style through basic movements and seek to find one’s own style of expression in vogue.

Volleyball advanced

Yin & Yang Yoga

Yin & Yang class combines a calm and a more dynamic yoga into a balanced combination. The class starts and ends with a calming yin yoga. The Yang yoga part in the middle of the exercise is faster and more dynamic. As a whole, the class is calm and most of the asanas are done on the floor. The class suits also for those who have no previous experience in yoga.

Zumba® Step

Zumba® Step class combines latin rhythms, choreographies and a step board. The result is a versatile workout where you can strengthen your muscles, especially feet and core, and have fun at the same time. The class offers new challenges both for Zumba® and Step enthusiasts.
