CampusSport’s sports tutors organize a stairway walk Tue 19 Nov 2019 and a series of mindfulness sessions between 25 Nov and 14 Dec 2019. Sports tutors’ events are free. No need to enroll in advance. You don’t need to be a CampusSport member in order to participate – all the students and staff members of the universities in Turku are welcome to join in. Welcome!
Stairway walk Tue 19 Nov
During the tour we will climb many of the stairs in the city center area. Stairs offer a great view over the city – and one step up the stairs is equivalent to ten steps on flat ground so we’ll great exercise at the same time. The tour is organized on Tue 19 November, starting at 6pm. The meeting point will be in front of the cathedral (Tuomiokirkko) near the river. The route will go through Vartiovuori, Samppalinna’s summer theatre, and Turku art museum. The tour will end at the cathedral as well. Participants will get a Campussport reflector, so that we can enjoy the tour safely as the evening’s are quite dark this time of year. The tour will last for approximately an hour. Instructed mindfulness sessions in Campus Chapel between 25 Nov and 14 Dec
You don’t need to able to participate all the sessions, you can visit when it best suits you. There are shorter sessions during the day, when you can just pop in and longer sessions during evenings and weekends with a change to practice mindfulness in a group. Please note that the sessions are religiously non-aligned, there will be no religious content. Please wear comfortable and warm clothes. Campus Chapel is located on the ground floor of Student House C (Rehtorinpellonkatu 4 C), next to the kindergarten and opposite to Turku School of Economics. Pop in session, you can come and go as you wish. You can have a peaceful break and practice breathing, mindfulness, Yoga, Gigong, etc. on your own. Instructor will be present during the whole session but there will be instructed mindfulness only at 13-13.20.
Sat 30.11. / 7.12. at 17:00 – 18:00 and Sat 14.12. at 14:00 – 17:00.
Group sessions with an instructor. Time is set, you can’t arrive late or leave early from this session. We stretch, relax, and refresh together. The aim is to ease tension, reduce stress and observe your breathing and inner experience. There is tea and snacks provided as well as open discussion. There is a maximum of 15 participants in the group sessions.
