Welcome to walks and runs with the sports tutors
Sports tutors organise in March and April a weekly mindfulness walk on Mondays and a Tuesday run on Tuesdays. They also organise two Sunday walks: one at the parks in the city center and one in the Halistenkoski area. Join the sports tutors in some outdoor exercise!
All the events are free and there is no advanced enrolment. You do not need to pay the CampusSport sports fee in order to participate but you do need to be an enrolled student or a staff member in one of the universities in Turku. You are welcome to participate in the events regularly or occasionally. The pace will be adjusted to suit the participants’ level. The sports tutors will be wearing black vests with “Sports tutor” written on them. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes that suitable for the weather. Bring a water bottle. If it rains a lot, the event will not take place.
Sunday walks 22 Mar and 19 Apr
22 March 2026 walk:
- Departure at 13.00 from in front of Turku Cathedral, return to the same place at approx. 14.00-14.30
- We will walk approx. 6 kilometers in Turun Urheilupuisto area, Samppalinna park and Vartiovuori park
- The route includes asphalt and dirt roads, stairs and many hills
19 April 2026 walk:
- Departure at 12.00 from the parking lot next to Halistenkoski (Valkkimyllynkuja 2, Turku), return to the same place at approximately 14.00-14.30
- The walk is approximately 6 kilometers long, with a stop at the Kuralan Kylämäki open-air museum café for coffee at participants’ own expense
- The route is mainly on dirt roads, with a few hills
Tuesday runs starting from 24 Mar
Welcome to a relaxed run with CampusSport’s sports tutors on Tuesdays at 17.00-18.00 starting from 24 Mar 2026. The starting and finishing point is in front of the Tyyssija gym (Inspehtorinkatu 12, Turku). Running technique is not taught during the runs. The target length of the run is approximately 5 kilometers. Participants should have some previous experience in running. Asphalt roads will be avoided as much as possible. If you want to use the toilets or dressing rooms at Tyyssija before the run, please arrive at 16.45, as the run starts at 17.00 sharp. The sports tutors will let participants into the dressing rooms.
Mindfulness walks starting from 30 Mar
Take a break from your busy day and step into a moment of calm. Welcome to a mindfulness walk with CampusSport’s sports tutors on Mondays at 16.00-17.00. The first walk will take place on 30 March 2026. The walk starts in front of the Turku School of Economics (Rehtorinpellonkatu 3, Turku). From there, we will walk toward Kupittaa Park and return to the same meeting point. The walks are held in English.
Mindfulness walking is a gentle practice that combines movement with present-moment awareness. Instead of focusing on speed or performance, we pay attention to our breathing, bodily sensations, and the surrounding environment. This type of walking can help reduce stress, improve concentration, and create a sense of balance and clarity. The aim is not only physical activity, but also mental relaxation and a deeper connection with the present moment.
