4. Upcoming competitions

CampusSport organizes several competitions during the academic year. You don’t have to pay the sports fee in order to participate. Anyone can put a team together, as long as you are a student or a staff member in one of the universities in Turku. You can for example ask fellow students to join your team and participate in the competitions. Depending on the competition, there are separate beginner, amateur, competition and personnel series. CampusSport’s competitions are part of CampusSport Cup, which is a series of competitions that consists of different sports and lasts for the whole season. You can participate in just one competition, it is not mandatory to be part of the Cup.

5. Changes in the administrative team

There have been personnel changes in the CampusSport’s administrative team. Noora Sartela has returned from parental leave to her position as a sports coordinator at the University of Turku. Tero Martimo, who has done an excellent job filling in for Noora, will continue in the CampusSport’s administrative team for another year, as he will be replacing Kristiina Teppo, who is currently working as a sports coordinator at Åbo Akademi University. Kristiina will go on a study leave at the end of the year and resume her duties in January 2027.

6. The change in the VAT rate does not affect CampusSport’s prices

Finnish Parliament has decided to change the value added tax (VAT) rate of the sports services from a 14% VAT rate to a 13,5% VAT rate from 1 Jan 2026. The change in the VAT rate is so small that it will not affect CampusSport’s sports fees, single reservations, or competition fees. The prices of these services will therefore remain unchanged despite the change in the tax rate. The VAT rate for other CampusSport services is 0% or 25.5%, so other prices will not be affected.

The VAT change would only have a minor monetary impact on the regular shift prices for large sports halls. CampusSport’s pricing principle is to keep prices reasonable, and they have not always been increased in line with previous VAT adjustments or rising costs. For these reasons, the prices for regular shifts will also remain unchanged despite the change in the tax rate.

7. Returning the key tag

If you won’t use CampusSport’s services in the future, you can bring back your key tag to support sustainability. There is no deposit. You can bring the tag to the sports service counters, or you can drop it in the mailbox which is located by the sports service counter in Educarium.
