Guided bike ride 7 May 2024

CampusSport organises a guided bike ride on Tuesday 7 May 2024 at 17-19. The meeting point is the sand field behind Educarium (Assistentinkatu 5, Turku). Before the actual bike ride, the instructor will show how to make quick bike maintenance and tell the most important riding instructions and traffic rules for safe riding. The ride will be led by Miia Hoisko, an active cycling enthusiast and trained cycling instructor. The guidance will be in Finnish only.

The ride is about 15 kilometres long. The ride is mainly at a leisurely pace. We ride on asphalted cycle paths in the city, but also on sand and gravel roads, which is worth bearing in mind if you are taking part on a race bike.  You can participate on any bike that is safe to ride (i.e. not broken) so it’s fine to come on a Fölläri city bike, for example. A bicycle helmet is compulsory. You should also bring a water bottle, a snack if you like and a spare tyre if you have one. If you wish, bring a payment card or a small amount of money if we end up buying some ice cream.

The participation fee is 5 euros. Participants will be entered into a prize draw for bike maintenance equipment on behalf of the bike instructor.

You need to register in advance for the bike ride. Register by paying the participation fee in the CampusSport online store. You do not need to pay the CampusSport sports fee in order to participate but you need to be a student or a staff member in one of the universities in Turku. The bike ride will only take place if there are at least 10 participants. The maximum number of participants is 20. The last date for registration is Sunday 28 Apr 2024. In case of heavy rain, the event will be cancelled and the participation fees will be refunded.

Please note that everyone participates at their own risk, so please take care of your own insurance coverage. Please note that you can only participate if you know the basics of cycling.
